The thing that strikes you the most when
walking through the rainforest, is the amount of life that this
forest is teaming with. When you slow down, absorb it and take
it all in, it is amazing how much you can see. On every tree,
on every branch, there is a lifeforce which is growing and
surviving. It is unbelievalbe and remarkable that so much life
exists within this rainforest surrounding.
These animals survive here, with the
extremities of nature and each have unique adaptions which
enable them to do so. There is nothing to be fearful of as you
are now outside of the normal "human environment". Nothing is
seeking to harm you but rather is here for wonder and to open
your eyes to the beauty of what it is. Look closely, absorb it
and enjoy it.
On
the property we have a small nature walk which leads down to
the creek, with a nice relaxing seating area to enjoy.
The cassowary has often been
spotted along this walk as well as the bright Ulyssus butterfly and many
unique rainforest birds.
It
is your opportunity to take in the beauty of the
rainforest.
Amongst the trees found at the Daintree
Wilderness Lodge are some of the oldest Cycads. They take
100years to grow just 1 metre, so you can imagine how precious
this old one is to us. It is amazing to see this old relic
right here on our Nature Walk.
Our ancient Cycad is now on the tree
register!
